Choosing sparring and training gear for kids
Gear lists vary from school to school, so start with the one your child's instructor gives you. Nothing here is sold as a bundle, so you only buy what the list calls for.
Sizing at a glance
- Headgear: head circumference (Small to Large).
- Shin guards: shin length, from the ankle to just below the knee (XS to XL).
- Chest protector: chest measurement. Belly protector: waist measurement. XXS comes in black only.
- Boxing gloves (4, 6 and 8 oz) and MMA gloves: age.
For everything except gloves, measure your child and compare with the chart on the product page. If the size you need isn't on the chart, or you're not sure, contact us before ordering.
Boxing gloves or MMA gloves?
Boxing gloves enclose the whole hand and are made for punching. MMA gloves have an open palm so a child can also grip and grapple. Ask which style your child's class uses.
Shin guards and body protectors
Kids Champion Shin Guards cover both the shin and the instep (the top of the foot), with an elastic strap under the arch. Some point-sparring classes use shin guards that stop at the ankle, worn with separate foot pads, so check the list first. The reversible chest protector has red scoring zones on one side and blue on the other, so it can be worn as red or as blue in point sparring. The belly protector fastens with one adjustable strap around the back and has no shoulder straps.

My child is between two shin guard sizes. Which should I order?
Order the next size up. If your child's shin measures under 11 inches, contact us before ordering.
Can I exchange gear that doesn't fit?
Yes. Unused gear in its original packaging, with its tags, can be returned within 15 days of delivery for an exchange or a refund, less shipping and handling. We pay to ship the replacement; you pay to send the return. See our Return & Exchange page.

How much is shipping?
US orders of $49 or more ship free. Shipping for smaller orders and international orders is calculated at checkout.
